Everyone knows how terrible stress is for you. You may have even heard it refereed to as the number one killer. Did you know that high school students are among the most stressed out demographic in the world! With all that you students need to deal with, it is no wonder that this is the case. In this section of the website, you will find tips to help reduce your stress levels, as well as a few stress-busting activities. All of the strategies listed here may not work for everybody, but it is imperative for you to find a way to manage the stress in your life so that you can be the best learner possible.
- Drink Plenty of Water. Dehydration will cause feelings of anxiety and stress. Avoiding dehydration is a simple way to avoid excess stress in your life. If your wondering whether or not your dehydrated, lightly pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it does not immediately snap back to its original state (and you see a small crease where you pinched), this means that you are dehydrated and that you should drink some water!
- Exercise. Try finding a type of exercise that allows you to let go and blow off some steam. For some of you, this may involve an exercise with some deep breathing (yoga for instance), and for others it may involve a type of exercise where you get to punch a bag! Find a physical activity that helps you blow off some steam. It will work wonders for both your body and mind!
- Take Care of A Nagging Task. If you have multiple things weighing on your shoulders, try finishing off one of the small tasks that may be there. Doing so will allow you to feel a sense of relief, and will motivate you to get bigger and more pressing tasks finished up.
- Get Outside. Nature is a beautiful thing, and can help relieve much tension and stress. Getting some fresh air will work wonders for you!
- Plan A Reward. Giving yourself something to look forward to at the end of a stressful day will help you pull through and hang in there. In addition, building anticipation for your reward will help motivate you to get your task completed so that you can enjoy the reward that you designated for yourself at the end of the day.
- Keep Up. I completely understand how stressful schoolwork can be. I've been there countless times, and know that it can just make you feel complete exhaustion. The easiest way to avoid this horrible feeling is to keep up with your studies. Reviewing the notes you did in class for 10 minutes before bed every night will help you immensely when it comes time to tests!
